Representatives from the Parent Forum at Shuttleworth College are hoping to raise much-needed money for people living with cancer by hosting an event as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The event is being held on Friday 27th September at Shuttleworth College from 10am until 12 noon. The school are inviting people from across the local community to come along, share in the fun, and raise vital funds for the growing number of people living with cancer across the UK.

Macmillan is almost entirely funded by donations and cannot support the growing number of people with cancer who need them without help from the public. More than 2.5 million people currently live with the illness, a number that is set to grow to almost 4 million by 2030, and one UK resident is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes.

“Cancer can affect anyone, and it impacts on every part of your life;” said organisers Alison Whitehead and Joanne Broughton; “Macmillan provides financial, physical, and emotional support for people living with cancer. We want to raise money so that everybody gets the help they need”.

Support people with cancer in your community by coming to Shuttleworth College’s coffee morning on Friday 27th September. For more information go to: www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee
