The Gatsby Foundation provides education providers with 8 benchmarks. Employers play a key role in 2 of these:

  1. Encounters with Employers & Employees

Every pupil should have multiple opportunities to learn from employers about work, employment, and the skills that are valued in the workplace. This can be through a range of enrichment activities including visiting speakers, mentoring, and enterprise schemes.

  1. Experiences of Workplaces

Every pupil should have first-hand experiences of the workplace through work visits, work shadowing, and/or work experience to help their exploration of career opportunities and expand their networks.

Your company, staff, and guidance have an essential part to play in helping with this transition. You can find a full list of our associated companies on our main careers page (link). Talking to employees, experiencing a day-in-the-life of a worker, understanding that there are thousands of different types of work ensure that our students start to consider what their future could look like.

Encounters and visits are most successful if we can match them to the interests of the students and we make every effort to do this. Additionally, pre- and post-visit activities ensure we maximise the usefulness of the encounters.
